Spring on Little Platte…

I’m sending this to everyone in the Little Platte Lake Association whose email address I have.

The ice was finally out on the south shore of the lake last Thursday; I got my dock and a boat in on Saturday, April 1; just in time for an inch of rain.  I just put away the snow shovel; time to start bailing.  Little Platte is about a half-foot lower than at this time last year.  It’s been a dry spring.

I just received the materials from MLSA for this year’s phosphorus testing.  The window for testing in our region this year is April 20-24.  Frozen samples are to be dropped off at the DEQ office in Cadillac on Tuesday, April 25.  Just so happens that I’ll be working in Cadillac that day, so I’ll drop the samples off myself.  I’ll mark ice-out as March 26 even though it hung around the south shore until the 28th.
